Time is Running Out for Business Premises Renovation Allowance (BPRA) Claims

Businesses wanting to take advantage of the ‘Business Premises Renovation Allowance’ (BPRA) should be aware that the scheme closes on 31 March 2017 for companies and 5 April 2017 for unincorporated businesses (also trusts and partnerships). If the expenditure is incurred after those dates, no BPRA relief will be available to claim.


Utilise Your Dividend Allowance Before the End of the Tax Year

Following the significant changes made to the taxation of dividend income from 6 April 2016, every UK income tax payer has the benefit of a tax-free £5,000 ‘dividend allowance’.

The allowance is a ‘use it or lose it’ 0% band and thus as we approach the end of the 2016/17 tax year (ending 5 April 2017), it is prudent for companies to consider declaring dividends to ensure that the shareholders use their respective dividend allowances.
