Probate and Estates – Consultancy to Solicitors
Our Probate Consultancy service provides an efficient service to solicitors who may be too busy to dedicate the necessary time to all of the probate cases that come their way. Thanks to our service, you will have more time to work with your clients on other matters, improving your productivity with no loss of work, whilst our competitive rates allow you to maintain your fee income.
We can help you with…
- Obtaining the Grant
Drafting of the Oath, HMRC Inheritance Tax Account and all other supplementary pages.
- Draft Accounts
Preparation of the accounts, which will be supplied with a full balance sheet and details of any action still required to bring the administration to a close. Forms R185EI will also be prepared for the beneficiaries.
We can deal with the various tax matters which might arise. This includes calculation of Inheritance Tax liability and completion of Income Tax returns.
- Deed of Variation
Organisation, drafting and implementation of variations. This includes drafting documents (dealt with by our sister firm, jBwills Ltd), correspondence and the Form IOV2 required by HMRC.
- Case Conduct
Preparation of all correspondence and documents. You retain full supervisory responsibility and all of the contact with the personal representatives and beneficiaries.
Our Probate Team is led by Partner Nick Skerratt, one of only a few Chartered Accountants in the country licensed by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales to perform Probate work.
Nick works closely with our Probate Manager, Jane Barlow, who is a qualified Chartered Legal Executive with over 40 years’ experience of probate matters, and a CILEx registered Probate Practitioner; Jessica Long, a trainee Chartered Legal Executive; and Charlotte Kent, a fully qualified solicitor.
